What makes this School unique

    Quality and excellence

We are top in the world

Our teachers are connected to the problems that affect our society. Thus, we have received recognitions such as the Sirnón Bolívar National Journalism Award, the Women Directors Award of the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cipa Award in University Journalism, first place in the National Piano Competition, the Capital Award for Social and Environmental Impact Journalism, among others.

We are supported by experience and tradition

Our School was created in 1997 and represented one of the most important transformations of the academic structure that the University has experienced, since a more comprehensive understanding of multidisciplinarity was proposed, with a philosophical and scientific base represented in the two departments with which it was created: Humanities and Basic Sciences.

Of the 55 regular teachers that our School has, 36 have a doctorate degree. Additionally, in the area of Creation - Music, Professor Felipe Tovar is pursuing his second postdoctoral degree.

    Transformative campus

We are supported by an ecosystem of laboratories to create and experiment

MediaLab, a laboratory for innovation in digital culture and convergence; Bitácora, a stage for convergent content; Acústica, a space to experiment with sound; Celee, a place to develop skills and competencies in reading and writing; Centro Multimedia! and audiovisual production studio, two spaces equipped to create, experiment and produce multimedia content.

We have an active academic, cultural and social agenda

We are part of an active cultural ecosystem: Editorial EAFIT, Center for arts and exhibitions with regional and national reach, live and active programming, EAFITprofessional symphony orchestra and student orchestra.

We have one of the most important libraries in the region, which includes a heritage room that safeguards memory, with access to more than 79 bibliographic databases, including articles, books, cases, standards, statistical data, videos and musical scores available for online consultation from anywhere, more than 452 thousand copies in printed format and approximately 644 thousand titles available.

The School has led and hosted events such as the International Narrative Seminar, the International Web Series Festival, the Critical Debate Contest, and the First Ibero-American Congress of Argumentation.

We participate in events such as the Ibero-American University Book Fair and the New Readings Fair of the Book and Culture Festival of Medellín. We connect with our campus and develop actions on it: knowledge is visible and permeates all corners of the University.

We have national projection and presence

Our University has offices in Bogotá and Pereira. It has operated and supported projects of various kinds in the national territory.

We are a key player in a university city

Medellin is ranked second as the best university city at a regional level, according to the ICU (Index of University Cities); and it is the first city in Latin America to join the PASCAL Network of learning cities. Every year EAFITreceives students from more than 15 countries around the world and from other cities in Colombia.

    Living and active learning

Our students are at the center and shape their own curriculum

At the School, each student has the freedom to choose between the lines of emphasis to shape their own curriculum.

We create, lead and implement educational innovation projects and programs, such as collaborative work between our School and institutions such as the San Vicente Foundation Hospital or the Bogotá Education Secretariat.

In our courses, we develop and solve social, environmental, organizational and cultural challenges: we are connected to the problems of our society and seek alternative solutions for these, which are routed from the classrooms.

    Innovation and leadership

    We are innovation in education

Our training model has been replicated by universities such as Tecnológico de Monterrey. We have cutting-edge platforms for virtual and digital learning.

Our students are continually exposed to conversations and processes with real cases and with alumni. They also receive multidisciplinary training thanks to the five EAFIT schools and the areas of knowledge that make them up.

We cultivate early leadership and research

At EAFIT we have 14 student groups, with more than 1,500 members, in which leadership skills are developed through practice. We have 40 research groups, 3 of them in category A1, the highest possible, and more than 100 incubators for the learning and growth of students.

    Connections and incidence

We are a business and active entrepreneurship universe

We have ON.going, the high-impact entrepreneurship center of EAFIT, which connects with problems and society; more than 21 business landings and impact ventures are based in our university. We have the Humanist Center, a space from which we study and influence, where projects are developed and conversations are proposed around the arts, creation, language, culture, education, dialogue and behavior.

In addition, we are connected to the ecosystem of EAFIT Centers: Management and Business, Public Value, Urbam, EAFIT Social.

Our professors are in permanent contact with organizations, research and the best universities in the world. Also, with the problems that affect our society.

We are a door to the world

We are in continuous contact with the country and the world. We have exchanges and transfers with more than 147 universities, we have agreements, research projects and 61 academic entities that represent professorial and research exchange programs.

    We represent excellence for employers

79.4% of our graduates are working in the organizations where they did their internships. And 89% of our graduates are employed.

Our graduates work in sectors as versatile and varied as the media, film, publishing, national and international orchestras, and private and public organizations.

    We form entrepreneurs

From 2018 to 2022, 782 of our undergraduate graduates and 103 of our graduates have started their own businesses. 12 of them are on the list of the 100 best startups in Colombia.
