Doctorate degree in Earth Sciences

The Doctorate in Earth Sciences seeks to train exceptional scientists who can develop their careers in the Academy, government and private are, formulating and answering questions related to the earth system especially in tropical areas and in northern South America. The lines of research include: stratigraphy, geoconservation, structural geology, coastal geomorphology, hydrogeology, environmental oceanography, paleontology and tecton-magmaticism.

Geology

The country is your great classroom. Colombia is one of the most interesting and rich countries from the geological point of view: we have three mountain ranges, 21 active volcanoes, an average of 2500 earthquakes per month (30,000 thousand a year!), The three types of rocks that allow us to obtain different minerals and types of energy, two oceans, six glacier areas, hundreds of rivers and, as if it were little, several hundred cubic kilometers of cubic water (70% of all continental water in the country!).
